Profile

Having completed basic surgical training and after developing an interest in orthopaedics, Dr Ahmad proceeded to train as a radiologist. Following his registrar training, he spent a year in Melbourne, Australia as a fellow in musculoskeletal imaging. This enabled him to further study and train in the imaging of orthopaedic and rheumatologic diseases. During that year he was also able to gain experience at the regional sports medicine imaging centre.

Dr Ahmad has taken an active role in training both undergraduates and postgraduates. He is currently the training programme director for radiology at Barts and the London NHS trust. He teaches on the undergraduate courses and is a regular lecturer for national and international meetings.

Since his appointment at Barts and the London NHS trust he has worked closely with the sports and exercise medicine team and supported research projects in Sports and Exercise medicine and Rheumatology. Additionally Muaaze has been involved in research about imaging in inflammatory arthritis. He has published a number of book chapters and authored an interactive radiology anatomy DVD. He has also co-authored research papers about the management of soft tissue neoplasms, treatment of tendonopathy and use of ultrasound in early arthritis.
