Lower limb knee, shin, foot and ankle problems. Sports related injuries and arthritis. Keyhole surgery of Knee and Ankle. Knee and Ligament reconstruction, Knee replacement. Lower limb overuse injuries such as tendonopathies and shin splints, for example chronic exertional compartment syndrome.

He was appointed NHS Consultant at Charing Cross and now Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust since 1999.

Actively involved in teaching and research with over 100 national and international presentations and publications on lower limb problems ranging from knee ligament injuries to ankle soft tissue injuries and Achilles tendonopathies.

In addition to training medical students, doctors and orthopaedic surgeons he is also Training Programme Director in Sports and Exercise Medicine for the London area.

Has a higher surgical degree in Knee biomechanical problems.

Did a sports medicine fellowship at Duke University, USA.

Is an active member of the highly prestigious International Anterior Cruciate Ligament Study Group.

In the 2012 Olympics Mr Thomas was both a volunteer medical Team Leader at the Olympic park and also a chosen Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon to look after the athletes.


Exercise and sport should be available to all age groups. I treat both professional and amateur athletes of all ages, sizes and ability.; and have been involved with many professional clubs for over 15 years.

Many injuries do not needed immediate surgery. Mr Thomas works with a multi-disciplinary group of sports physicians, radiologists, podiatrists and rehabilitation specialists e.g physiotherapists to try all aspects of conservative care before considering surgery.
